The Labors of American Poetry: An Evening with Mark Nowak
On April 28, 2015, from 5:00-6:30 pm, the Brooklyn College Graduate Center for Worker Education, the Brooklyn College English Department, and LaborArts present The Labors of American Poetry: An Evening with Mark Nowak. Nowak is an award-winning poet, social critic, and labor activist. His writings include Shut Up Shut Down (2004, afterword by Amiri Baraka), a New York Times “Editor’s Choice” book, and Coal Mountain Elementary (2009), an acclaimed book on coal mining disasters in the US and China that Howard Zinn called “a stunning educational tool.”
