The 11th Annual Clara Lemlich Awards for Social Activism celebrate the lives of these incredible women whose brilliant activism has made real and lasting change in the world. The awards, which you can register for here, will take place virtually on Monday, May 10, from 6 p.m. EDT to 6:30 p.m. EDT.
Please join us in celebrating the lives and activism of five women whose work has given voice to working women in and out of their unions, advocated for LGBTQIA+ rights and for the rights of the elderly, and organized and mobilized behind-the-scenes to honor those who came before us by continuing the fight for economic, gender, racial, and social justice today and tomorrow.
This year’s awards will honor:
Barbara Dane, Activist Singer;
Suelika Cabrera Drinane, Advocate for the Elderly;
Debby King, Union Fighter;
Wilhelmina Perry, LGBT Convener; and
Muriel Tillinghast, Movement Organizer
The awards are hosted by LaborArts and the Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition and generously supported by the Museum of the City of New York, the Puffin Foundation and the 21st Century ILGWU Heritage Fund. The NYLHA is also co-sponsoring the awards, as is tradition. More info can be found at www.laborarts.org/lemlichawards.
