2018 Bernard Bellush Prize Winner

NYLHA is proud to announce that the 2018 winner of the Bernard Bellush Prize
for outstanding scholarship by graduate students in labor and work history is
Erin Durham, a graduate student at the University of Maryland.

In her essay, “Strike for Labor Rights: Prison Reform in Maryland During the Early Twentieth Century,” Durham explains the transition from a contract labor system to a state-use system in Maryland’s state prisons. Focusing on the labor issues in prison reform, she reveals the close relationship of prison labor and revenue generation.

Congratulations Erin!
